Transcript Partial transcript

Machine transcription of this recording. The words are the recognizer's, except where a passage is marked as corrected or machine re-recognized; most have not been checked against the audio, so words, numbers and names can be misheard. It describes what was said. It cannot establish who voted how, an amount or an outcome. A time links to its passage, and “Copy link” copies that link. “▶ Play” opens the recording at that moment, on YouTube; on this page it moves the player above the transcript.

Speakers were separated by voice. A plain name rests on evidence tied to that voice; “provisional” is a name from an earlier text-only pass and is not verified; “Speaker N” is an unidentified voice.

there to help anybody, adult or youth with disabilities that are interested in work. So they will refer folks to us and then we have a team that is behind them to help them really learn what they want to do for a career. We help them present themselves and sell themselves to employers.

supervisors and hiring managers just to get an experience of what that industry is like, that environment, and just really builds their hard and soft ‸ skills. And also we hope that, you know, once they're ready for permanent employment, they'll have a better idea of what they want to do. One in three people become, have a disability at some point in their life, but not everybody is ready to retire or not work any longer. So it's quite a big population of people that could use the help. And what an agency like ours is able to do is to help these folks get an idea of what they want to do long term. Because the whole idea is to get into a career, something that's not going to be job hopping anymore. It's going to be something long term that they're going to like to do and that they can make a living at.

The community partnerships that we've gained out here have been tremendous. We've been able to connect with a lot of different businesses that were really open to working with us. It's very community based out here. A lot of people seem to know each other and there's got great industries. And we have programs that are going on in construction and manufacturing and hospitality and retail.
