Transcript Partial transcript

Machine transcription of this recording. The words are the recognizer's, except where a passage is marked as corrected or machine re-recognized; most have not been checked against the audio, so words, numbers and names can be misheard. It describes what was said. It cannot establish who voted how, an amount or an outcome. A time links to its passage, and “Copy link” copies that link. “▶ Play” opens the recording at that moment, on YouTube; on this page it moves the player above the transcript.

Speakers were separated by voice. A plain name rests on evidence tied to that voice; “provisional” is a name from an earlier text-only pass and is not verified; “Speaker N” is an unidentified voice.

Hi, I'm Lieutenant Mike Delter with the Cocoa Police Department and I would like to talk to you today about taking your time to return home after an evacuation. You may find when returning home that utility services may not be available for some time. If you see a flooded roadway, it's best to turn around. In areas where traffic signals are out, please treat the intersections as a four-way stop unless law enforcement is controlling the traffic at that intersection. There is no need to rush back after an evacuation. It is always best to stay off the roadway so emergency personnel can safely do their jobs. Causeways to and from the barrier islands remain open prior to the storm, but will not be safe to travel during a storm. Causeways will only close temporarily after a storm has passed so the Florida Department of Transportation engineers can safely conduct inspections. The causeways will reopen once it is deemed structurally safe for the traffic flow. The public is encouraged to monitor the social media and website for the City of Cocoa, the Cocoa Police Department, and the Brevard County Emergency Management to get the most accurate and up-to-date information.
