Machine transcription of this recording. The words are the recognizer's, except where a passage is marked as corrected or machine re-recognized; most have
not been checked against the audio, so words, numbers and names can be misheard.
It describes what was said. It cannot establish who voted how, an amount or an outcome.
A time links to its passage, and “Copy link” copies that link. “▶ Play” opens the recording at that moment, on YouTube; on this page it moves the player above the transcript.
13 suspect passage(s) marked in place.
Speakers were separated by voice. A plain name rests on evidence tied to that voice; “provisional” is a name from an earlier text-only pass and is not verified; “Speaker N” is an unidentified voice.
Hi, I'm Amy. I am the Utility Accounting Technician with the City of Cocoa. I would like to show you the two types of meters that are used for Cocoa Utilities customers, how they are read by our meter readers, how your water is billed, and how you can use the meter to check for leaks in your home. Most of the City of Cocoa water utility meter boxes are located typically towards the front of your home, closest to the road, and are read on a monthly basis. For manual read meters, a meter reader will remove the lid, raise the meter cap, and clear away any debris that may have settled on the face of the meter. The first four numbers on the dial indicate your usage in thousands of gallons and are used for your monthly billing. For example, on this meter, it shows 0071. This number is keyed into a device by the meter reader. That meter reader does not have access to your previous month's read, and reads are not estimated unless in the rear case the meter is covered

unable to ‸ be viewed. If for any reason your meter is unable to be read, our customer service department will initiate a work order to have it repaired.

it is very common for dirt and debris to quickly fill in over the meter, even after it has been read by the meter reader. The City of Cocoa also utilizes

These meters are read when the meter reader passes by the meter and the device detects the monthly read. For these meters, the reader does not need to physically open the box to find the monthly read.

any point. You will notice the red leak flag indicator on the manual read meters. A customer can check for leaks in their home by turning off all the water inside and outside of their home. Go out to the box and check if this indicator is moving. With all the water turned off, nothing should be moving on your meter.

home, this can indicate a leak. Turn off the house valve and check the leak flag indicator again. If it stops moving, this will indicate a leak inside of the home. If the flag continues to move, this will indicate a leak from the meter to the home.

a faucet, wet spots on the ground, running toilets, etc. A leak can cause an abnormally high water read and should be fixed right away. Once the reads are captured by the meter readers, the customer service department prepares the monthly bills. If there is an abnormally large usage on a certain bill, that bill will be flagged. The meter is re-read for accuracy. If the read was inaccurate, the reading and bill will be corrected. If the read is accurate, a customer service representative will reach out to the customer to notify them of the high read.
