Transcript Partial transcript

Machine transcription of this recording. The words are the recognizer's, except where a passage is marked as corrected or machine re-recognized; most have not been checked against the audio, so words, numbers and names can be misheard. It describes what was said. It cannot establish who voted how, an amount or an outcome. A time links to its passage, and “Copy link” copies that link. “▶ Play” opens the recording at that moment, on YouTube; on this page it moves the player above the transcript.

Speakers were separated by voice. A plain name rests on evidence tied to that voice; “provisional” is a name from an earlier text-only pass and is not verified; “Speaker N” is an unidentified voice.

We're very blessed and we were always told to be of service to others. ‸ I went through Catholic education and that was ingrained in me from kindergarten on out. So we feel an obligation and actually it's joyful to be able to do that for other people.

the Citizens Advisory Board and after my first term on that I decided I wanted to do something a little bit more so I became a VCOP. And I served as a VCOP for four and a half years and I liked that so much and I felt like I was doing something that I would normally put in about a hundred hours a month

for the city and the volunteers play a huge role in our office. We have approximately eleven boards, I'd say give or take. Most of the ‸ board members have been long serving board members. What's neat is each of them come whether it be from a finance background, business background, you know, real estate, they all bring a unique perspective to the city and

So many things that they specialize in with our boards and committees. Then we have our VCOPs and our, you know, people who volunteer to help out with our schools and beautification and people who get out and plant trees and pull weeds. There's just an unlimited number of people who come out to help do the things that the city needs done every day.

We probably couldn't do the mission without volunteers. All these people who sit on boards and do other things and VCOP and whatever there is, especially on the boards, because we really rely on their expertise and their opinions when they come back to us.
